Ideas Worth Spreading
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. Nowadays, Two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. Previous, TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
The flagship annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily, TED Translators, which provide subtitles and interactive transcripts, as well as translations from volunteers worldwide and the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential of creating change at thrilling scal. TEDx supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self-organised TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. These events are open source, local and community driven by the goal of inspiring innovation, thought leadership and visionary insight.
Our event is TEDxUniSA, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, live speakers deliver TED structured Talks which spark deep discussion and connection. While the TED Conference platform provides general guidance for the TEDx program, our independent TEDx events are self-organised.
TEDxUniSA was born from the idea of an international TED conference with the purpose of motivating people and opening minds
TedxUniSA is a non-profit organisation, entirely organised by local, Adelaide-based UniSA students and alumni. This inspirational platform brings students and speakers together to talk about their passions and help create an engaging, stimulating experiences with TEDx talks.
We want TEDxUniSA to be intriguing and thought-provoking. We strive to put together an event that is intriguing, thought-provoking, and most of all, memorable for our attendees.
